Anti-AMY1B antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein amylase alpha 1B. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 511 amino acid residues and a mass of 57.8 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. It is notably expressed in the salivary gland. A member of the Glycosyl hydrolase 13 protein family, AMY1B is reported to be a calcium-binding enzyme that initiates starch digestion in the oral cavity. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include alpha-amylase 1B, alpha-amylase 1, alpha-amylase 1A, amylase alpha 1B (salivary), and AMY1.
