Anti-CBX8 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein chromobox 8. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 389 amino acid residues and a mass of 43.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. CBX8 is a known component of the Polycomb group (PcG) multiprotein PRC1-like complex, a complex class required to maintain the transcriptionally repressive state of many genes, including Hox genes, throughout development. Synonyms for this target antigen include Pc class 3 homolog, chromobox homolog 8 (Pc class homolog, Drosophila), polycomb 3, rectachrome 1, and chromobox protein homolog 8.
