Anti-TIMP4 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein TIMP metallopeptidase inhibitor 4. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 224 amino acid residues and a mass of 25.5 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. It is notably expressed in the heart and present at low levels in many other tissues. A member of the Protease inhibitor I35 (TIMP) protein family, TIMP4 is known to be involved with nervous system development and the Notch signaling pathway. Synonyms for this target antigen include tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 4, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 4, and metalloproteinase inhibitor 4. TIMP4 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of TIMP4 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
