Anti-COL24A1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein collagen type XXIV alpha 1 chain. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1714 amino acid residues and a mass of 175.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the extracellular matrix and is secreted. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the Fibrillar collagen protein family, COL24A1 is believed to participate in regulating type I collagen fibrillogenesis at specific anatomical locations during fetal development. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation.
The COL24A1 marker can be used to identify Hippocampal Gyrus CA1-3 Neurons.* Synonyms for this target antigen include collagen alpha-1(XXIV) chain and collagen, type XXIV, alpha 1. COL24A1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Western Blot is a widely used application for the COL24A1 antibodies listed below. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
