Anti-chromodomain Y like antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the CDYL gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 598 amino acid residues and a mass of 66.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 4 different isoforms for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in the hippocampus with reduced expression in epileptic tissue compared to normal adjacent tissue. It is noted to be involved in spermatid development and spermatogenesis. Other names for this target antigen include chromodomain Y-like protein, CDY-like, autosomal, chromodomain protein, Y-like, crotonyl-CoA hydratase, testis-specific chromodomain Y-like protein, and CDYL1. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of chromodomain Y like antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunofluorescence are also common applications.
