Anti-C8B antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein complement C8 beta chain. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 591 amino acid residues and a mass of 67 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. It is notably expressed in the liver. A member of the Complement C6/C7/C8/C9 protein family, C8B is known to be involved with immune response pathways. Post-translational modifications have been described, including O-glycosylation and N-glycosylation. The C8B gene has been associated with the disease, Complement component 8 deficiency. Synonyms for this target antigen include complement component C8 beta chain, complement component 8 subunit beta, complement component 8, beta polypeptide, and C82. C8B gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Western Blot is the most common application for the C8B antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
