Anti-PI4KA antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase alpha. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 2102 amino acid residues and a mass of 236.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. It is ubiquitously expressed across many tissue types. A member of a the PI3/PI4-kinase protein family, PI4KA is known to act on phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) in the first committed step in the production of the second messenger inositol-1,4,5,-trisphosphate. Synonyms for this target antigen include PI4K-ALPHA, PIK4CA, PMGYCHA, SPG84, pi4K230, PI4-kinase alpha, phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase 230, and GIDID2.
