Anti-Solute carrier family 5 member 5 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene SLC5A5 in humans. The gene may also be known as NIS, sodium iodide symporter, TDH1, sodium/iodide cotransporter, and Na(+)/I(-) cotransporter. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 68.7 kilodaltons in mass. The SLC5A5 marker can be used to identify Brain Fibroblast Non-Neuronal Cells.* Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
