Anti-family with sequence similarity 21 member C antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target family with sequence similarity 21 member C is a known alias name of the protein WASH complex subunit 2C, encoded by the WASHC2C gene in humans. This 1341-amino acid residue protein is known to act as a component of the WASH core complex that functions as a nucleation-promoting factor (NPF) at the surface of endosomes, where it recruits and activates the Arp2/3 complex to induce actin polymerization, playing a key role in the fission of tubules that serve as transport intermediates during endosome sorting. It is localized to the cell membrane of the cell. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types.
