Anti-MEIOSIN antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein meiosis initiator. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 638 amino acid residues and a mass of 70.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. MEIOSIN is known to be involved with the regulation of transcription and spermatogenesis. Synonyms for this target antigen include HMG domain containing, basic helix-loop-helix and HMG box domain containing 1, basic helix-loop-helix and HMG box domain-containing protein 1, and meiosis initiator protein. MEIOSIN gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
