Product Name:

Normal Goat Serum (10%)

Catalog Number:

50062Z

Info: Supplier Page

Epicardial cells were differentiated from human embryonic stem cells and were stained for the presence of epicardial markers including WT1 and ZO-1. Using normal goat serum as a blocking reagent, stained cells successfully showed a strong positive signal for epicardial markers.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Immunofluorescence

Starting Material

Fixed epicardial cells

Tips

Use this serum for blocking and as a diluent for primary and secondary antibodies.

Results Summary

Stained epicardial cells showed strong positive signals for the marker WT1 (localized to the cell nuclei) and ZO-1 (localized primarily to the border of cells) as expected for successfully differentiated epicardial cells.

Summary

The Good

Easy to use right out of the bottle (no dilution required), blue colour helps track pipetting.

The Bad

Slightly more pricey than buying and diluting serum in bulk.

The Bottom Line

An easy-to-use serum for off-the-shelf blocking in immunofluorescence applications, especially when small quantity of samples will be prepared for imaging. Will be using it again in the future.
