Catalase is known as a scavenger of hydrogen peroxide. Here we report its scavenger activity against peroxynitrite. We used SIN-1 (20 microM) to generate peroxynitrite. Addition of catalase (10 nM) resulted in inhibition of peroxynitrite-mediated APF fluorescence.
Chemistry
SIN-1 and catalase
NA
Catalase scavenges peroxynitrite as well as hydrogen peroxide. Thus, it inhibited APF fluorescence level.

Catalase can be used to scavenge H2O2 and ONOO- in chemistry and cell biology experiments.
