AMPK plays a crucial role in maintenance of cellular energy status. LPS is known to impair ATP/ADP ratio. We used AICAR, an AMPK activator, to investigate role of AMPK in this process. We observed improved ATP/ADP levels in cardiomyocytes treated with AICAR and LPS compared to LPS alone.
