Product Name:

TrypLE Express Enzyme (1X), No Phenol Red

Catalog Number:

12604021

The TrypLE Express Enzyme is great for detaching cells from tissue culture-treated vessels. This is especially useful for generating tumorspheres or cancer stem cells (CSCs). Because this is a less harsh alternative to regular tyrpsin, the reagent may be useful for preventing cleavage of certain cell surface proteins.

Starting Material

Human breast cancer cells

Tips

Make sure to warm TrypLE Express to 37 degrees prior to usage

Results Summary

Tumorspheres were generated quicker than with trypsin. Not significantly longer time was required for detachment of cells.

Summary

The Good

Very easy to use, not different than trypsin

The Bad

The Bottom Line

Use TrypLE Express for generation of cancer stem cells and easy detachment. This reagent is particularly useful for flow cytometry as detachment by other methods can reduce cell surface protein expression.
