The profilin 2 antibody was used to detect actin in micro structures of mouse brain slices at the scale of 1–5 micrometers in immunocytochemistry experiments differentiating age-related brain changes in normal and genetically modified animals. The dilution required was 1:50. This antibody may be better suited for other applications.

Results Summary

Several experiments were needed to establish a working dilution which came to be 1:50. Neuronal dendritic spines were not clearly stained. There are better actin antibodies that stain entire structures for better resolution images.

Summary

The Good

An alternative actin antibody if needed

The Bad

Not good for high resolution micro structures

The Bottom Line

Mainstream antibodies are in mouse, rat, rabbit which limits the number of stains one can use in one experiment. The benefit of this antibody is that it is a goat antibody. However, overall quality for immunofluorescence is just passable.
