Company:

Peprotech

Product Name:

Recombinant human CTGF

Catalog Number:

120-19

Used as a suppressor of Wnt signaling in culture in tandem with R&D recWnt3a. Worked modestly to prevent Wnt activation indicating this had the correct bioactivity. There was no endogenous CTGF to compare it to however.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Flow cytometry

Starting Material

BM2 cells with Wnt-GFP reporter

Protocol Overview

Dissolved to 1 mg/mL in PBS and added at 1:500 for 24 h to tissue culture. Wnt activation was measured by signal in the GFP signal.

Tips

Straightforward use

Results Summary

This product was able to modestly reduce Wnt3a-mediated Wnt activation of GFP (5% reduction). This confirmed the molecular was active, but lack of positive controls meant that a full analysis of activity could not be made.

Summary

The Good

One of few sources for recCTGF.

The Bad

Very low activity compared to Dkk1

The Bottom Line

Use for novel applications, but mammalian expression and purification may work better. Few commercial products for CTGF are available to choose from in either case.
