136401 or 136402

VEGFR2 is the major receptor for VEGF (vascular growth factor receptor), involved in cell signaling in endothelial cells. In vascular research, it is important to demonstrate equal loading of VEGFR2 protein when different levels of activated VEGFR2 are shown in western blot assays. This antibody was successfully used in our western blot procedures to demonstrate VEGFR2 protein in the lanes of endothelial cell lysates lacking pVEGFR2 that in parallel cultures was induced with VEGF.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Applications

Western Blot

Sample

Lysates of murine endothelial cells bEND.3, loaded at 20 micrograms per lane

Primary Incubation

Primary antibody at 1 microgram per mL; overnight incubation in blocking buffer; cold room; gentle rocking

Results Summary

The rat antibody Avas12 (cat #136401/136402) demonstrated the ability to recognize total VEGFR2 protein in the lysates of murine endothelial cells treated or non-treated with VEGF.

Summary

The Good

The antibody is capable of recognizing total VEGFR in western blot procedures.

The Bad

The antibody appears to produce several non-specific bands, especially after stripping the original membranes used to detect pVEGFR2.

The Bottom Line

This rat anti-VEGFR2 antibody is suitable for detection of total VEGFR2 in murine endothelial cells.
