Product Name:

Anti-Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 5 antibody [EPR2425Y] (ab76316)

Catalog Number:

ab76316

We wanted to confirm that our rats carrying a mutation in the Grm5 locus showed decreased expression of Grm5. We tested frontal cortex samples from wildtype and Grm5-heterozygous mutant rats. This antibody detected a band that appears to be Grm5.

Results Summary

This antibody detected a band at approximately 140kD that most likely corresponds to Grm5. A smaller band was also observed around 40kD that might be nonspecific. When the 140kD band was quantified it should the Grm5-het animals showed reduced expression of Grm5 compared to WT littermates.

Summary

The Good

This antibody detects Grm5 in the rat

The Bad

Not much

The Bottom Line

The antibody appears to detect Grm5 with little non specific signal (perhaps a band at ~40kD). It works in rat tissue.
