The focus of our lab is molecular imaging of cancer. After injecting animals with a radiotracer, we will monitor the biodistrubtion and targeting efficiency of the tracer using PET imaging. After this, we must validate the PET imaging through ex vivo biodistribution studies. This requires us to measure the weight of the major organs in the animal model. For this reason, we thought that having a printer would be better than having to write the numbers down on paper. We chose this product because it was provided as a gift for purchasing a Mettler Toledo balance (XSE205DU - please see review of this product for more information).

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Printing the weight of things measured on balance

Starting Material

Thermal printer and paper

Protocol Overview

Plug in the printer to the back of the scale and plug in the power cord. The system comes with two roles of paper. Once the system comes on, follow the prompts to set it up.

Tips

The setup can be difficult and it may not find the scale the first time. Turn off and back on.

Results Summary

While the printer works great, we don't use it as much as originally predicted. The paper is not very wide, so it can be difficult to quickly read the measurements from the paper. Also, the setup was difficult and could be simplified by the company.

Features Summary

Fast printing of measurements with great display

The Bad

Paper size and initial setup and installation

The Bottom Line

We recommend this printer for those labs that continually measure chemicals and need records of the measurements.
