UV-Vis Spectrophotometers

UV-Vis spectrophotometers measure the light that passes through or is reflected by biologically relevant samples, such as solutions containing DNA, RNA, protein, cells, and biochemical reactions. These instruments detect and record the absorbance or transmittance of light in the ultraviolet to visible regions of the light spectrum. The ultraviolet wavelength range is 190 to 380 nm and the visible range is 380 to 760 nm. However, many instruments can accommodate up to 1000 nm. Within this range are the standard DNA and RNA determination wavelengths at 260 nm and 280 nm, respectively. These spectrometers are also commonly used for measuring colorimetric changes that result from various chemical and enzymatic assays. Click on the products below for more information, including details on the instrument optical systems, useful features, sample volumes, and more.
