Hydrophobic Interaction Columns

Hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC) columns operate on hydrophobic interactions of molecules, often proteins, in order to separate them. It uses the reversible interaction between the molecules and hydrophobic groups in the stationary phase, such as octyl, butyl, or phenyl. The binding strength of the column is dependent upon the ionic strength of the mobile phase. Changes in salt concentration will cause elution of the molecules of interest based on hydrophobicity. Hydrophobic interaction columns can be used to purify, capture, and separate proteins of varying sizes. Visit the HIC column suppliers for more information.
