Hangzhou Lifereal Biotechnology (Lifereal) has come a long way since it was founded just 13 years ago with the goal of “building a world-class life science enterprise fully dedicated to human health.” It currently offers over 20 instruments for clinical diagnostic and life science research use as well as reagents and kits for use with its instruments. Lifereal products, which are mostly designed and developed in house, are now distributed in over 50 countries.
Its flagship instrument, the Automatic Integrated Gene Detection System (AIGS), is installed in more than 1,000 labs around the world helping to streamline workflows in a wide range of applications including human genome engineering, forensic medicine, oncology, population biology, paleontology, zoology, and infectious disease testing.
AIGS is a fully integrated system for rapid molecular diagnostic testing. It combines nucleic acid extraction and real-time PCR amplification and uses a microfluidic cartridge-based preassembled kit to realize fully integrated gene data analysis. AIGS is portable and can run each sample at any time and automatically transfer the data as needed. It is also an easy-to-use system. By using the preassembled kits, AIGS can run as a point of care testing (POCT) system without overly complicated operations.
The QuantReady quantitative fluorescence real-time PCR System is another popular instrument. It combines an innovative thermal cycling system, accurate photoelectric detection system, highly sensitive photomultiplier (PMT) tube top scanning, and powerful software to help ensure the accuracy of experimental results.
In addition to AIGS and the QuantReady PCR system, other bestselling instruments include a biological sample preparation system called GeneReady Plus that can process 24 samples at a time and uniquely features high temperature inactivation; GeneReady BSH-32, a flexible and efficient fully automated nucleic acid extraction instrument; and the NanoReady Touch series microvolume spectrophotometer, which features a 7-inch color touch screen that displays test results in real time.
Lifereal got its start as an R&D company and its focus on innovation remains. It has four R&D centers—two for instruments and two for reagents—employing over 80 highly skilled scientists and technicians. The company’s proximity to the prestigious Zhejiang University helps it recruit and retain top-notch talent.
Quality management is a significant focus at Lifereal. Throughout the entire production process, the company is inspecting and monitoring its instruments to ensure high-quality products are delivered to its customers. Lifereal got its first ISO13485 certification in 2017 and has since worked to comply with a number of other safety, performance, and environmental standards including MDSAP, RoHS Directive, CE mark, and IVD certification.
Lifereal’s ingenuity and passion for endless exploration has helped the company achieve considerable success since its founding in 2011. By continuing to invest in innovative technology development, the company is ensuring the fulfillment of its mission to help researchers “explore the reality of life.”
