About Atlas Antibodies

Atlas Antibodies manufactures and sells over 21,000 highly characterized and validated research antibodies against human proteins. The company was founded by researchers from the prestigious Human Protein Atlas project, who wanted to make the unique antibodies developed in the project available to fellow researchers worldwide.

Today Atlas Antibodies offers four product lines: Triple A Polyclonals, PrecisA Monoclonals, PrEST Antigens and QPrEST standards for absolute quantification of proteins in Mass Spectrometry. At Atlas Antibodies, we take active part in antibody validation by sponsoring several validation initiatives, including the Global Biological Standards Institute (GBSI), where the company CSO is a representative of the IHC group.

At Atlas Antibodies, producing highly characterized antibodies and working extensively with validation and reproducibility has always been of top priority. You can trust that our antibodies are specific and perform consistently each time you use them.

We welcome and take active part in the development of comprehensive guidelines for antibody validation as requested by the research community. To our extensive product data, we are further adding a layer of formal validation to our antibodies, following the guidelines proposed by Uhlén et al in Nature Methods (September, 2016). Our strategy is to focus on four of the suggested pillars for antibody validation: Genetic Strategies, Orthogonal Strategies, Independent Antibody Strategies and Expression of Tagged Proteins.

In IHC we validate by orthogonal methods by comparing the protein expression to RNA levels and compare independent antibodies directed towards different parts the same proteins.

At Atlas Antibodies, each new antibody lot is tested against its reference lot to make sure that new lots meet the same specificity critera in each application. This is how we guarantee lot-to-lot reproducibility.
