Lymphocytes, such as T cells and B cells, are important immune cells in the blood that play crucial roles in health and disease. Effective study of specific lymphocyte populations require effective removal of erythrocytes and platelets, among other components. For this purpose, lymphocyte isolation media are readily available from several suppliers. One well-established reagent is FicollTM, a sucrose polymer solution which was first used as early as 1967.
