ZP1 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein zona pellucida glycoprotein 1, which is encoded by the ZP1 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is a known component of the zona pellucida, an extracellular matrix surrounding oocytes which mediates sperm binding, induction of the acrosome reaction and prevents post-fertilization polyspermy. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 638 residues, a mass of 70 kDa, and is a member of the ZP domain protein family. It is known to be localized in the cell membrane and is notably expressed in oocytes. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally O-glycosylated and cleaved. The ZP1 gene has been associated with the disease, Oocyte maturation defect. Other alias names for this target include OOMD, OOMD1, OZEMA1, ZPB1, zona pellucida sperm-binding protein 1, and HEL163.
