The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 346 residues, a mass of 37.2 kDa, and is a member of the Ntn-hydrolase protein family. It is known to be localized in the lysosomes. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally N-glycosylated and cleaved. The AGA gene has been associated with the disease, Aspartylglucosaminuria. Other alias names for this target include ASRG, GA, N(4)-(beta-N-acetylglucosaminyl)-L-asparaginase, N4-(N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminyl)-L-asparagine amidase, aspartylglucosylamine deaspartylase, and AGU.
