Functionally, this protein is reported to be a golgi-localized palmitoyltransferase that catalyzes the addition of palmitate onto various protein substrates. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 299 residues, a mass of 34.2 kDa, and is a member of the DHHC palmitoyltransferase protein family. It is known to be localized in the golgi and is reported to be widely expressed with significant expression in heart, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, testis, thymus, small intestine and leukocyte. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally palmitoylated and phosphorylated.
