GNPTAB ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphate transferase subunits alpha and beta, which is encoded by the GNPTAB gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is known to catalyze the formation of mannose 6-phosphate (M6P) markers on high mannose type oligosaccharides in the Golgi apparatus. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 1256 residues, a mass of 143.6 kDa, and is a member of the Stealth protein family. It is known to be localized in the golgi and is reported to be expressed in the heart, whole brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney and pancreas. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally cleaved and glycosylated. The GNPTAB gene has been associated with the disease, Mucolipidosis type II. Other alias names for this target include GlcNAc phosphotransferase, N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphate transferase alpha and beta subunits, UDP-N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphotransferase subunits alpha/beta, and N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphotransferase subunits alpha/beta.
