Chagas ELISA kits are assays designed to detect the presence of Trypanosoma cruzi, the protozoan parasite that causes Chagas disease. It is spread to humans through bugs of the subfamily Triatominae, also called kissing bugs or vampire bugs. Upon infection, T. cruzi live in organ tissues, feeding on the blood and lymph of their host. Chagas disease has both an acute and chronic form, with the chronic form developing decades after the initial infection. This can affect internal organs such as the heart or colon, causing heart failure and death. Visit the supplier page for more information about detection target, range and reactivity.
