LPO ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein lactoperoxidase, which is encoded by the LPO gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is reported to be a heme-containing oxidoreductase, which catalyzes the conversion of thiocyanate (SCN(-)) into antimicrobial agent hypothiocyanous acid (OSCN(-)) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) (By similarity). The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 712 residues, a mass of 80.3 kDa, and is a member of the Peroxidase protein family. It is known to be localized in the cytoplasm and is secreted. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally glycosylated. Other alias names for this target include SPO and salivary peroxidase.
The detection range for different LPO ELISA kits can vary, with some assays measuring target concentrations as low as 13.7 pg/mL and as high as 1000 ng/mL. Click on the products below for more detailed ELISA kit information, such as target reactivity and assay sensitivity.
