The protein is reported to be an actin-binding component of the Arp2/3 complex, a multiprotein complex that mediates actin polymerization upon stimulation by nucleation-promoting factor (NPF). The ARPC2 protein is described to be 300 amino acid residues in length and 34.3 kilodaltons in mass. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell.
