Anti-CA11 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein carbonic anhydrase 11. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 328 amino acid residues and a mass of 36.2 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. It is noted to be expressed abundantly in the brain with moderate expression also present in spinal cord and thyroid. It is a member of the Alpha-carbonic anhydrase protein family. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include CA-RP II, CA-XI, CARP-2, CARPX1, carbonic anhydrase-related protein 11, and CA-RP. CA11 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for CA11 antibodies.
