Anti-COA6 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein cytochrome c oxidase assembly factor 6. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 125 amino acid residues and a mass of 14.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 6B protein family, COA6 is reported to be involved in maturation of the mitochondrial respiratory chain complex IV subunit MT-CO2/COX2. The COA6 gene has been associated with the disease, Mitochondrial complex IV deficiency. Synonyms for this target antigen include cytochrome c oxidase assembly factor 6 homolog. COA6 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some COA6 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Immunofluorescence is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Immunohistochemistry is also a common application.
