Anti-SIX homeobox 2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the SIX2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 291 amino acid residues and a mass of 32.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. It is reported to be highly expressed in skeletal muscle. A member of the SIX/Sine oculis homeobox protein family, it is reported to be a transcription factor that plays an important role in the development of several organs, including kidney, skull and stomach. Other names for this target antigen include homeobox protein SIX2 and sine oculis homeobox homolog 2.
