Anti-Whirlin antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene WHRN in humans. The Whirlin protein has an expected mass of 96.6 kDa, but there are 4 reported isoforms. The protein may also be known as DFNB31, CIP98, PDZD7B, USH2D, CASK-interacting protein CIP98, and autosomal recessive deafness type 31 protein. Variants of this antigen may also be found in other species, including canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat.
