Anti-SIAT8 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the SIAT8 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the ST8SIA1 gene, which encodes ST8 alpha-N-acetyl-neuraminide alpha-2,8-sialyltransferase 1. This protein is known to function in carbohydrate metabolism and homeostasis and protein glycosylation, among other biological roles. The human version of SIAT8 has a canonical amino acid length of 356 residues and a protein mass of 40.5 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the Golgi of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. SIAT8 is a member of the Glycosyltransferase 29 protein family.
