Anti-PTE2 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target PTE2 is a known alias name of the protein acyl-CoA thioesterase 2, encoded by the ACOT2 gene in humans. This 483-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the hydrolysis of acyl-CoAs into free fatty acids and coenzyme A (CoASH), regulating their respective intracellular levels. It is localized to the mitochondria of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be highly expressed in the heart, liver, muscle and kidney.
