Anti-S100 calcium binding protein A9 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene S100A9 in humans. The gene may also be known as S100 calcium binding protein A9 (calgranulin B), Calgranulin B, CGLB, MAC387, MRP14, and 60B8AG. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 13.2 kilodaltons in mass. The S100A9 marker can be used to identify Type 3 Dendritic (DC3) Cells, CD14 Monocytes, Classical Inflammatory Monocytes, Monocytes, and Type 3 Medullary Thymic Epithelial Cells.* Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
