Anti-REP8 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target REP8 is a known alias name of the protein UBX domain protein 8, encoded by the UBXN8 gene in humans. This 270-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) for misfolded lumenal proteins, possibly by tethering VCP to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. It is localized to the ER of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is noted to be expressed abundantly in ovary and testis, and weakly in all other tissues tested. Other synonyms for REP8 include D8S2298E and UBXD6.
