Anti-PTCHD4 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein patched domain containing 4. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 846 amino acid residues and a mass of 96.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane. Up to 4 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the Patched protein family, Ptchd4 is suspected to act as a repressor of canonical hedgehog signaling by antagonizing the effects of SMO, as suggested by down-regulation of hedgehog target genes, including GLI1, PTCH1, and PTCH2 in PTCHD4-expressing cells. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include p53-regulated patched protein, patched domain-containing protein C6orf138, and patched domain-containing protein 4. PTCHD4 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Immunohistochemistry is the most common application for the Ptchd4 antibodies listed below. Western Blot and Immunofluorescence are also common applications.
