Anti-IFI-56K antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the IFI-56K antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the IFIT1 gene, which encodes interferon induced protein with tetratricopeptide repeats 1. This protein is known to function in viral immune response, among other biological roles. The human version of IFI-56K has a canonical amino acid length of 478 residues and a protein mass of 55.4 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in many tissues, such as the cerebral cortex and colon. Other names for this target antigen include C56, G10P1, and IFI-56.
