Anti-SLC18A1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein solute carrier family 18 member A1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 525 amino acid residues and a mass of 56.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasmic vesicles and ER. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in neuroendocrine tissues. A member of the Vesicular transporter protein family, SLC18A1 is reported to be an electrogenic antiporter that exchanges one cationic monoamine with two intravesicular protons across the membrane of secretory and synaptic vesicles. Synonyms for this target antigen include VAT1, VMAT1, chromaffin granule amine transporter, solute carrier family 18 (vesicular monoamine transporter), member 1, and CGAT. SLC18A1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of SLC18A1 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
