Anti-HCAR1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein hydroxycarboxylic acid receptor 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 346 amino acid residues and a mass of 39.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. It is noted to be expressed abundantly in brown and white fat. A member of the G-protein coupled receptor 1 protein family, HCAR1 is known to act as a receptor for L-lactate and mediates its anti-lipolytic effect through a G(i)-protein-mediated pathway. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include GPR104, GPR81, HCA1, LACR1, TA-GPCR, TAGPCR, G protein-coupled receptor 104, and FKSG80. HCAR1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. A number of HCAR1 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
