Anti-CSM2 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the CSM2 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the DES gene, which encodes desmin. This protein is known to function in cytoskeleton organization, among other biological roles. The human version of CSM2 has a canonical amino acid length of 470 residues and a protein mass of 53.5 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane, nucleus, and cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in the smooth muscle, skeletal muscle, and heart muscle. Other names for this target antigen include CDCD3 and CSM1. A number of CSM2 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
