Anti-ASMTY antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target ASMTY is a known alias name of the protein acetylserotonin O-methyltransferase, encoded by the ASMT gene in humans. This 345-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the transfer of a methyl group onto N-acetylserotonin, producing melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine). In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in the pineal gland. The term HIOMT is another synonym for ASMTY.
