Anti-gig antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the gig antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the GAN gene, which encodes gigaxonin. This protein is known to function in cytoskeleton organization and protein ubiquitination, among other biological roles. The human version of gig has a canonical amino acid length of 597 residues and a protein mass of 67.6 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in many tissues, such as in adipose tissue and gallbladder.
