Anti-iota antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the iota antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the PSMA6 gene, which encodes proteasome 20S subunit alpha 6. This protein is known to function in NF-kappaB signaling pathways, among other biological roles. The human version of iota has a canonical amino acid length of 246 residues and a protein mass of 27.4 kilodaltons, although 3 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. iota is a member of the Peptidase T1A protein family. A number of iota antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
