This target is a reported synonym of the DMBX1 gene, which encodes diencephalon/mesencephalon homeobox 1. This protein is known to function in brain development, among other biological roles. The human version of MBX has a canonical amino acid length of 382 residues and a protein mass of 41.2 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the nucleus of cells. MBX is a member of the Paired homeobox protein family.
