Anti-Gasdermin C antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the GSDMC gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 508 amino acid residues and a mass of 57.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane and cytoplasm. It is notably expressed in trachea and spleen. The gasdermin C protein is a member of the Gasdermin protein family. Post-translational modifications have been described, including protein cleavage. Other names for this target antigen include melanoma-derived leucine zipper-containing extranuclear factor, and melanoma-derived leucine zipper, extra-nuclear factor.
