Anti-Soat antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target Soat is a known alias name of the protein sterol O-acyltransferase 1, encoded by the SOAT1 gene in humans. This 550-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the formation of fatty acid-cholesterol esters, which are less soluble in membranes than cholesterol. It is localized to the ER of the cell. It is reported to be expressed in many tissues, such as the adrenal gland and duodenum.
